These Brand New Community Events are Free and for the Entire Family
Post-quake Christchurch is ready to get “Back on Bikes” – and a brand new series of community events will help build their confidence, in time for summer.
In partnership with Bike NZ, Sport Canterbury has put its support behind a special event series of four cycling-focused expos. These will be held in communities that have been significantly affected by the Christchurch earthquakes.
According to Sport Canterbury Sport Recovery Manager Vaughan Utteridge: “Given the challenges to cyclists created by recent earthquakes, the timing of the event is meant to give locals confidence to get ‘Back on Bikes’ at a time of year when cycling is an ideal form of commuting, and a fun, social source of recreation.”
The events will provide assistance with cycle safety and bike maintenance tips, promoting the use of cycle lanes and walkways for recreation as well as commuting.
Come by bike and enjoy the free sausage sizzle.
